Kiruna is the practical entry point for Swedish Lapland aurora trips. KRN airport has daily SAS flights from Stockholm, the train station connects west to Abisko and Narvik (Norway), and rental cars open up the Torne valley. The town itself is mid-relocation — the iron mine is undermining the original center, so a new downtown is being built 3 km east. Aurora viewing from in-town is mediocre (Bortle 4); drive 10 minutes east to get clear of streetlight glow.
