ICEHOTEL pioneered the entire 'sleep in ice' category. Each winter, art-suite rooms are carved from scratch by international artists from blocks harvested from the Torne River; in spring, they melt back into the river. ICEHOTEL 365, opened in 2016, runs year-round on solar-cooled ice. The aurora-viewing setup is straightforward — walk onto the frozen Torne River 200 meters from the lobby, away from the property's exterior lighting.
